The Stanley County Cut-ups were everywhere at the 2024 Winnipeg Folk Festival. Besides their own concert, they were in several workshops throughout the weekend. Plus, being from Winnipeg and already being regular Folk Fest attendees, there were lots of other family and friend responsibilities beyond just the performance side of things.
All that makes it extra lucky that I got to head backstage on the last day of the fest to chat with the band about their history playing together and their overall Folk Fest experience. Our team also got treated to an exclusive acoustic performance of the bluegrass classic, "How Mountain Girls Can Love", which you can watch and listen to by sticking around to the end of the interview.
The Stanley County Cut-ups have a host of shows and festivals planned throughout the 2025 summer in Manitoba and Northwest Ontario, and also have new music coming out soon. So be sure to keep your eyes peeled to stanleycountycutups.com, their YouTube Channel, or their Instagram account to not miss out!
And Showbiz Monkeys will be once again covering this year's Winnipeg Folk Festival from July 10-13, 2025 – the iconic festival's 50th edition! – so stay tuned for a look back at not just last year but also the last 15 festivals we've covered, a preview of Winnipeg Folk Fest 50, as well as daily posts on our YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
