Hello, internet. My name is J.D. Renaud. I am a stand up comedian living in Winnipeg. There are a lot of other things wrong with me, too, but we will get to that later.
My first time doing stand up was at a contest held by a (re: the only) comedy club in Winnipeg. If you're curious as to how that went, I'll tell you. I bombed. Fantastically so.
The number one show on Wednesday night according to Variety! Still a great show, just not as remarkable as Season 1. Why? It's like falling in love. You can never recapture that first rush of surprise, happiness and novelty.
Need a good laugh? If comedy's your thing, run, don't walk to your DVR, computer or tv and you can thank me later! The writing is stellar and the cast, magnificent! It's one of those perfect shows that is already a modern classic.
The problem with recent romantic comedies is that they all seem spliced from the same Petri dish. A few variables change slightly: stars (Katherine Heigl or Kate Hudson), settings (wedding in Rhode Island or wedding in New York) and plot details; but the general lackluster style remains unvaried.
This week: Season finale! At least one big surprise! Company picnic! Dwight acting almost human at times!
In the opener, we find that Michael has eaten an entire family-sized chicken pot pie for lunch, which has sent him into a deep nap.
This week's opener is so, so stupid and yet so, so awesome: Erin the New Receptionist suddenly screams with joy at her desk and hollers, "OMG, I won an art contest!" Dwight starts chuckling maniacally and walks over to hand her some cash while Jim and Pam share weary looks. In an interview, Dwight laughs much more maniacally, and gleefully (and slightly demonically...
As Pam tells us, there is only so much cold-calling you do in a day, but no limit to the number of cheese puffs you can throw at another person's mouth. The staff of the Michael Scott Paper Company have gotten extremely proficient at the great sport of cheese puff throwing. They even pull off a three-way puff throw/catch.
