FilmExchange 2007 Review: Wrath of Gods

Posted by: Paul Little  •  February 27, 2007 @ 4:42am

Wrath of Gods is a very interesting take on the "behind the scenes" documentary. Director Jon Gustafsson, hired for a bit part in Sturla Gunnarsson's film Beowulf & Grendel but who is also a filmmaker himself, decided to let his own camera roll from the moment the crew arrived in Iceland and document the entire process.

Review: The Number 23

Posted by: Dean Kish  •  February 23, 2007 @ 8:17am

Some "average joe" discovers that the secret to the universe is a number. The number 23. I guess for paranoia's sake there has been an actual investigation into this number. But like all conspiracy theories, if you don't buy into it then, well, it doesn't really matter to you.

Review: The Astronaut Farmer

Billy Bob Thornton has gone on record as saying that The Astronaut Farmer is his "Jimmy Stewart" film. That is probably the best way to describe the film.

Thornton plays Charles Farmer, a member of NASA who was forced to retire but never gave up on his dream of wanting to go into space.

Review: Breach

I have talked to a lot of people who don't remember when CIA mole Robert Hanssen was captured. I am not sure why I do, but I do. Maybe because I am interested in moles or maybe it is because I work at a newspaper. I am not sure.

Review: Ghost Rider

"My head is burning up," exclaims Nicolas Cage as he stumbles out into the sunlight.

In the new feature film Ghost Rider, Cage stars as Johnny Blaze, a motorcycle stuntman who harbors a very dangerous curse. I guess when he was just a boy, Blaze sold his soul to Mephisto (Peter Fonda) in exchange for curing the cancer of his quickly fading father.

Review: Music and Lyrics

Ah, yes!

The stylish beats, big hair, tight jeans, and polyester jackets of the 1980s. We all remember them well. Well, those who aren't embarrassed and admit that they once danced to Rick Astley and hummed along with Wham!

I remember the 1980s really well and yes, to this day, I still love listening to 80s flashback songs, and my Pet Shop Boys anthology is still a favorite.

Are you having a really bad week at work? Has your boss been nagging you or is your work just getting to you? Well if you're like me and you have weeks like that and you like to burn off some stress by either watching a very violent or funny movie or play a rather intense videogame.

Review: Seraphim Falls

Posted by: Dean Kish  •  January 26, 2007 @ 2:43am

What happens when you take two aging Irish actors and send them out into the Old West to kill each other? Well Seraphim Falls, that's what.

Seraphim Falls stars Pierce Brosnan as Gideon, a man fleeing for his life across snow-capped mountains, vast deserts, and hilly terrain. In hot pursuit is his would-be killer, Carver (Liam Neeson) and his posse of men.

Review: Alpha Dog

It has been a long time since I have been reminded of the dynamic work of one S. E. Hinton, who is most famous for writing the novels "Tex", "Rumble Fish", and "The Outsiders". It is the latter film that most of us remember.

Review: Arthur & the Invisibles

There have been a lot of movies where you see a magical world and our normal world collide. Nine times out of ten, the fantasy world is represented in some way or another by animation. For example, Bedknobs & Broomsticks, Cool World, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and of course Mary Poppins.
