The Manitoba bassist had Juss Jazz packed elbow-to-elbow while his hot quartet ended their set. As the evening unwound, venues facilitated genre-spanning performances all under the Jazz Festival banner.

"I'm so sorry, this is not jazz," proclaimed a flustered patron to his table.
It was midway through Larry and His Flask's set. The man was in a suit and accompanied by two women in fancy dresses. Everyone else in The Pyramid Cabaret was dressed casual, in vests or had facial hair. After killing another shot, the trio departed.
The Winnipeg Comedy Festival has been steadily growing, adding performers, shows, and days to the festival year after year.

It's finally here -- Oscar Sunday! All the other awards shows have come and gone, with the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Directors Guild of America Awards, the Writers Guild of America Awards, and the BAFTAs now behind us.

I was lucky enough to obtain a press pass for ShowbizMonkeys.com to attend the C4 Comic Con, but since "equipment carrier" isn't exactly a worthy title, I was asked to contribute an article as well. Which is fair, and I wouldn't mind giving you a recap of the Saturday events.

As the second week of Montreal's Just for Laughs Festival rolls on, there are still a host of amazing shows on the horizon. As we've said before, this festival continues to bring in some of the best comics in the world, and we've got three more that you definitely don't want to miss should you be in Montreal for the festival this week.
Just for Laughs has become synonymous with comedy -- not just in Canada, but around the world. The Montreal-based festival, which began in 1983, has served as the launching point for comedians for decades, while also featuring some of the world's biggest comedy names year after year.

Every year, the Just for Laughs Festival in Montreal hosts the best mix of comedic talent from around the world.
Despite its relatively small size, Winnipeg knows how to throw a summer party! From late June until the end of August, this prairie city known mostly for its cold winters and newly-returning hockey team comes alive with festival after festival celebrating music, theatre, and culture.

The Winnipeg Folk Festival finished its five-day celebration of folk, roots, and traditional music on Sunday with another day of beautiful (and sunburn-inducing) weather and a solo performance by Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy.
