ShowbizMonkeys.com is sometimes lucky enough to cover major events and festivals in film, music, comedy, and pop culture. Whether a major international spectacle like the Academy Awards or a more regional festival like the Winnipeg Folk Festival, we're on the scene with interviews, photos, video, and special commentary.
The Winnipeg Comedy Festival celebrates its 15th year in 2016, and is once again bringing many of Canada's top comedians – along with a few favourites from the U.S. – out to the middle of nowhere (ie. ShowbizMonkeys.com's headquarters of Winnipeg) to make a whole bunch of people laugh.
Interstellar Rodeo -- a music festival started by Canadian indie label Six Shooter Records in Edmonton, Alberta in 2012 -- has come to Winnipeg for the first time in 2015, setting up shop at the Forks from Friday, August 14 to Sunday, August 16.
The Winnipeg Folk Festival has been going strong on the Canadian prairies for over four decades. Music, community, environment, food, fun -- these are all integral parts of what makes the Winnipeg Folk Festival so special year after year. There are travellers from across Canada and the U.S.
The Winnipeg Comedy Festival is in full swing, and we've got you covered!
It's Oscar Sunday, and ShowbizMonkeys.com once again ventured down to Hollywood, California to bring you our own unique coverage live from the Academy Awards.
For those of you who don't know me in person or on stage, I can be pretty cynical. Prior to this week, I didn't know if there was a way left for me to feel alienated. Los Angeles found a way, my friends. I have always escaped into a rich fantasy life, facilitated by the silver screen.
A little over a week ago the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival ended so what better time to ruminate on the good and the bad. And what better way to do so than create a "best and worst" list? (Sure, lists are reductive to the point of absurdity, they force an arbitrary ranking system, I usually come to regret them at some point, etc., etc.
In all the hubbub of the Toronto International Film Festival, sometimes it's easy to forget where you are. Amidst the wall of people crowding the streets, the buzz of foreign languages, and Hollywood celebrities emerging from black SUV's you might be at any major world film festival.
